West Cork Rapid Response attendance recently at a road traffic accident.
…with your help…

Dr. Jason van der Velde in tired mode after a traumatic call out. Our thanks go to Jason’s wife Kirsten for allowing us to “borrow” her husband so often. Jason works in a voluntary capacity for the West Cork Rapid Response. This does not leave the busy doctor much free time. Jason works in a busy Cork Hospital, and when he gets home he switches on his Emergency Services radio and then he’s on call for West Cork Rapid Response. I believe his wonderful young son Jonas has just about got used to his Daddy dashing out the door suddenly and tearing off in the big white jeep with the coloured flashing lights.
An evening of darts, raffles and entertainment was held recently at Cookies Pub in Castletownkenneigh, and the local community rallied around and donated in excess of €1,200. Mrs Noreen Coughlan was the main organiser of this event and our thanks also to the proprietor for allowing us to use his pub and facilities. Noreen’s family and friends all helped out on the night and refreshments were enjoyed by all who attended. A photo and full record of amount received by WCRR will be posted here soon. ( The volunteers are busy playing catch up with the astonishing generosity of the local communities of the West Cork area). Noreen’s son was involved in a serious accident and thankfully made a full recovery. Noreen and her family are friends of WCRR and we applaud her efforts in assisting us with fundraising for the ongoing upkeep and maintainence of the Rapid Response Vehicle.
